Is Austerity Something We Will Have To Live With Always?
The term AUSTERITY was brought in and used by David Cameron telling everyone that "we're in it together"
I wonder when we're going to break free of that mantra? If ever

Austerity is something that hits the poor and/or unemployed and or sick etc.. If you are in a fortunate position you may well not notice. When the Chancellor loosens the purse strings and starts investing in the nation again, that's when we're free of austerity.

//Ignore the constant goading RR, it's going too far.//
Goading it is NOT. The debate is about austerity. If people can indulge their favourite pastimes the country is hardly in a state of austerity. That is the general consensus by others here. Deskdiary and Clarion are two. I doubt we are country squires or rich Tory toffs but I possess about £40,000 of sporting rifles. The ammunition is £1.20p a pop. I am a 70 year old pensioner and if I couldn't afford my hobby they would have to go. I have been able to manage quite comfortably and am entitled to reply to any other poster on this particular subject without your interference Mamyalynne.

Talking of the T Trust, and I have a lot of admiration for them, I saw on Facebook that they were short of certain items so I went to Lidl today and bought 10 litres of long life milk, 4 litres of fruit juice and and 10 tins of fruit and took it to them. Cost approx £13.50. When I arrived there, some of the claimants were outside, smoking. Maybe I should have just got them a carton of duty free.
Calicogirl - I really don't mind. You and I will never meet, so why would it concern me?
Outliers always skew an average, so I get that the average rent is £20k, but when there's a rent at the bottom end at £775pcm in Brockley, you will find a rent at £22,750pcm in Mayfair...so in London an 'average' rent is meaningless.

// and why am I actually earning less by 300 a month than I was?//
I don't know. Wy are you? Are you working fewer hours? Have you changed your job for one that is lower paid? I know one thing - quit a lot of people have seen their pay frozen but I know of few people who have remained in the same job who have actually seen a reduction in their pay.
