Best Labour P.M ever......he took a Party that was totally unelectable and held it together as PM for over 10 years.
Handing over to Gordon Brown spelled the end for the foreseeable future for Labour.
Never liked by the flat caps of Labour or the Unions.
the labour of Bliar was different to what we have to day
why did i vote labour in 1997 - sheer insanity !
perhaps you could call it the dead cat election
Shri ( bless! ) (*) marched into no 10 and pointed to Humphrey the Downing street cat and said
I want it dead.... ( quote from truly madly deeply), no withnall and I)
Bliar - starting early ( to lie) called a press conference specifially to deny it
One of the worst. Took a left of centre party and dropping party principles, cynically moved it right of centre in order to pick up votes that would otherwise have gone to the Tories. Then society mentally shifted the centre line so they could still believe there was a left and right party. As a consequence the pendulum massively overswung back a little later and Corbyn got in.
I find Old_Geezers description of the centreline very interesting, excellent image. I agree with Ichkeria's assessment - the reason for the error persists every bit as strongly to this day: The deep British desire to be "one of the Big Boys", which it can only pretend to be by crawling as far as possible up....... and the enthusiasm is so great that all that is achieved is pure fawning foolishness ("special", allies, strategic, etc., etc.).
Sqad no one I know where's a flat cap , I was silly enough to bite him in tho and realised only too late, he was a Tory in red, like his father before him.
He should be done for war crimes but slithers and slides around on that issue, he's also responsible for the UKs open border policy and look at his legacy on that?
He's on a nice little earner along with his wife who ,the lawyer who represents illegal immigrants courtesy of the British tax payer of course ,
You can I really like him eh?
