Are They Worth It

Is it really worth the entrance fee they charge for some of these county shows that tend to be on during summer time. In times gone buy, entertainment was the key, dog show, horse trials, sire horse show, cooking shows, no end of kids entertainment, flower displays, Now you just seem to pay to walk round an arena of bog standard trading stands, trying to sell you whatever, along with the saturation of burger vans, chippies, coffee vans. I think the one, and the last one I can say I enjoyed was in north Yorkshire, When on holiday there.

depends on the show....if I was going to one I would check on their website or facebook page forst to see what would be there.

We have a balloon festival each year, that's free to get in.

Yep the balloon festival travels round the country, we had it, but it didn't happen on the day as its very weather dependent so was left with a local radio show with so called rapping all afternoon.

It's a long time since I've been to the Suffolk Show. It's £5 to park, £28 to get in and £6 for a programme. I can think of better things to do with £39!

We went to the Brecon show today - £10 to get in and they had all the traditional fearures

The balmoral show is costly to attend but so worth it

^^^ At £20 (on the gate) for a ticket, Rockrose, the Balmoral Show is still a good bit cheaper than the Suffolk Show!

However the £8 (how much?!!) that you get stung for parking at the Balmoral Show helps to balance things out a bit!

Went to this one about three years ago, it was pretty good tickets were around £15 if I remember rightly.

It’s on the site of the maze but a fantastic show we spent the whole day there 9-6 and still didn’t see the whole thing

The ones I dislike are the Food Festivals, they can be very expensive to get in and all they do is try to sell expensive food and drink with just a few free samples. We were given tickets for the one in Edinburgh a few years ago, such a waste of time.

Yes zebo, that's just my point, you are basically paying to get into an expensive outdoor shopping centre, I understand they need to rent out spaces for a show to make it pay, but they are slowly doing away with the entertainment side for people to enjoy, so as to make a bigger profit, all in all now a total rip off. I'm no big fan of burgers and chips, but a lot of people, and kids enjoy them. But £4/£4.50 for a burger, and an average price £2.00 for a bag of chips, £3 for ice cream, who they kidding. no thanks!!

It’s like those European-style Christmas markets that have sprung up. £5 for a sausage in a bun and £6 for warm red wine, under the guise of wurst and gluhwein.

Fenland Country Fair at Quy in Cambridgeshire has a good mixture of old fashioned country pastimes. August Bank Holiday. £12.50 with under 11's free.

Yes cloverjo, we get one in our town about 6 weeks leading up to xmas, I can never understand why someone would want to stand in the freezing cold shivering, drinking a pint of cold larger costing £5/£6 :) Along with an expensive warmish sausage.

10Clarion, I don’t pay those prices. I suppose some people must or the marketers wouldn’t keep charging that much. It doesn’t mean there’s no austerity though.
