Racism Is A Crime

We all know that to be a racist is criminal but what about ageism, is that also a crime ?
As I've yet to hear of anyone brought to task over it, or is ageism simply 'disrespect ' ?

Racism isn't a crime. No one has control over our opinions and/or thoughts. Doing something illegal because of someone's race is a crime.

I've never heard of someone being attacked for simply being old.

Not really disrespect, I think when your younger you never see yourself getting old, you just see it as something that's never going to be you, ( big mistake if you like) we are old enough, and wise enough to take any wise cracks that may come our way, on the chin.

Age is relative, the age in my head, the age on my passport and the age in my knees are all different! I often refer to someone as 'that old woman/man' and OH has to remind me that I'm probably older!

Danny, don't you think it's ironic because laws are subject to people under 16, under 18, under 21... How is that not ageism? One law for one one law for another???? What?? Surely not!?

No. Because it isn't treated someone badly due to age, it's ensuring they reach an appropriate age before getting involved.

The person who said young people shouldn't or can't gamble, is sharing their opinion.

Discrimination:

"In human social behavior, discrimination is treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction towards, a person based on the group, class, or category to which the person is perceived to belong"

So, by that definition of discrimination, allowing one age group to do something another can, is discrimination.

Ageism, the discrimination of groups due to age.
