Tricky one this but:

Now the taxpayer will have to pay for his food and keep for the next six years, and then go through the the trouble and expense in an effort to deport him back to Ethiopia.

Frankly , I'm surprised that you consider that fleeing to Ethiopia and escaping punishment in a UK jail would be right and preferable to the victim

Well short of hanging him, and the fact that we can no longer send him to a penal colony abroad, and taking into account what a free ride he will have in our soft prisons.

Knowing that he is out of the country and back in the hell hole that he came from, would please me enough.
Should all immigrants who (allegedly) commit a crime be returnt to their own country? If so, would that be before or after a trial?
I hesitate before using the 'L' word AOG, but I will if you persist with that nonsense at 13.33.

Just think about it, wouldn't it be better if we could send all our imported criminals back from whence they came?

Come to that it would be better if we could send our own such criminals away from these shores, but unfortunately Australia will no longer accept them, perhaps we should ask France if we could send them to Devil's Island?
Were your proposed escape scheme to be rolled out then it would surely have to be reciprocal.

British citizens off abroad, working or on holiday go on to commit a crime and just come home as normal.

The "L" word??????? Wow I am now really shaking in my boots, and that is before I know what the "L" word is.
It would be better, after their sentence is served.
I can't see in the article where it says where he was born?

AOG - despite what the tabloids lead you to believe prisons are not a soft touch
//Should all immigrants who (allegedly) commit a crime be returnt to their own country?//

Yes.

//If so, would that be before or after a trial? //

After a trial - and if a custodial sentence is warranted, after they've served their time.
I might be a wee bit slow but what is the L-word"?
Nope. Me neither.
Perhaps it was a typo - always tricky on one-letter abbreviations ...

You know that your analogy is verging on the ridiculous, there is a vast difference between Ethiopia and the UK.

Now if you had said locking them up in some of those Foreign prisons instead of sending them home to face our laxed punishments, then there would have been much more sense in that.

Talking from experience are we?

Perhaps they're the ones who don't get caught. Others aren't so fortunate.
Nope, can't work it out so still.
..none the wiser.

Shouldn't we all be accused of doing that?
