I am not at all sure it is within the council's remit to 'strip' the couple of their titles.

I understand that the Queen bestows titles, so it's logical that it is for her to rescind them if and when she chooses.

I think the proposal is not that the Council strip them of their titles but refer to them only using their names and not their titles.

Perhaps Brighton and Hove should consider giving up its status as a city as this was granted in much the same way as Harry and Megan's titles.
