He is getting a big kicking in the chamber.

Unfortunately his demeanour tonight was embarrassing. Like JRM last night he showed utter Contempt. Swinson
Just mauled Johnson and It was humiliating.
A best test for Boris, and he has flunked it.

434 votes needed for an election.
No chance of that.
Was a date given?
No, I don't think it was. The motion simply states "That there shall be an early parliamentary general election."
Jo Swinson was good: finished strongly after a shaky start with people shouting at her.
Swinson lost any kind of respect I might have had when she said even if a 2nd referendum said out she wouldnt support it.
JIM, there are some experts who are of the opinion that the convention that the Monarch follows the will of Parliament by giving Royal Assent trumps any advice to the contrary which she would otherwise have to follow.

Depends on what she meant by that, no? I think most people would argue that the referendum result in itself didn't change their opinion, and nor should it, that leaving the EU is the right/wrong thing to do. There should always be a place for people to argue the case for their views even if a vote has gone against them.
She didn’t say that.
She appeared to say when questioned about revoking article 50 that she would support that, which has not been party policy. But then went on to say that they would support a referendum on a deal, which is to be honest the obvious solution
HM will not refuse RA, she is wise and very experienced she knows what effect that would have.

Well, leaving the finer points of the constitution aside, the fact still remains that the Queen's opinion on these affairs has nothing to do with it.
She certainly didn’t say she’d ignore the result
298-56.
Labour had all gone home :-)
Johnson is such an *** he really is.
My £20 feeling a little less safe just now...
Played four lost four :-)
o god more rubbish how do they keep it up?

how long have they been yapping? The divine Boris wonders if it the first time somone has refused a general election

yup of course - Victoria tried to dissolve parliament and chuck out Disraeli and he said she couldnt !

What was the bet Jim?
I’ll be amazed if there’s not an election soon.
Hopefully not on Johnson’s terms.
don't worry jim, your £20 is going to a worthy cause.
JIM, I know the Queen is neutral but some folk have been saying the Government could ask (tell) her to withhold the Royal Assent.
ich -- specifically an election before October 31st. I regret not insisting on November 30th as the cut-off, since, to be fair, TTT's initial premise was that it wouldn't be until 2022. But I'm going to stick to an agreement and I am sure that one or other of us will be donating to a worthy cause by the end of the month.
I doubt there will be an election before November.
