It's a bill to compell the government to ask for an extension. No deal is not even mentioned in it.

Was a deal ever mentioned on our ballot papers!? I am sick of hearing politicians saying that Brexiteers didn't vote for a no deal Brexit.
NellieMay, what about when Brexit supporters say they weren't voting, or campaigning, for a No Deal Brexit?
Why do persist in asking questions of people who are incapable of answering honestly, TTT?
Really? Not the Brexeteers I know. We voted for Brexit deal or no deal.
I certainly did, NellieMay.
I voted to Leave. I hoped that some sort of deal would be forthcoming, but I was prepared for no deal. As events unfolded I abandoned that hope for a deal. I am now perfectly happy with the thought of leaving on WTO terms. If May had taken Boris's attitude a decent deal would have been arranged - the EU even offered a Free Trade Deal at the start, which the wicked woman refused, so far as I am aware.
Well, it’s a motion to stop No Deal - for now - so I guess that is why.
It has been called the Benn Bill - amusingly perhaps for those of us who remember Watch with Mother ...
Question Author
so it's motion to delay no deal then ich?
Of course they weren't campaigning, for a No Deal Brexit, they were campaigning for Brexit however it was achieved.
O_G Exactly!

I've done that joke, mate.
TTT, the Bill says,

"(3)If neither of the conditions in subsection (1) or subsection (2) is satisfied, subsection (4) must be complied with no later than 19 October 2019.

(4) The Prime Minister must seek to obtain from the European Council an extension of the period under Article 50(3) of the Treaty on European Union ending at 11.00pm on 31 October 2019 by sending to the President of the European Council a letter in the form set out in the Schedule to this Act requesting an extension of that period to 11.00pm on 31 January 2020."

Subsection (2) begins "The condition in this subsection is that a Minister of the Crown has laid before each House of Parliament a statement that the United Kingdom is to leave the European Union without an agreement having been reached under Article
50(2) of the Treaty on European Union and—

(a) the statement has been approved by resolution of the House of Commons on a motion moved by a Minister of the Crown in the following form—
******“That this House approves the withdrawal of the United Kingdom
from the European Union under Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union on exit day, without a withdrawal agreement as defined in section 20(1) of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018”,"*****

What it's saying is there CAN be a no-deal but Parliament must agree to it before 19.10.19. If it doesn't (which it won't) the PM must ask for an extension to 31.1.20.

Question Author
yes but if they don't agree it's still the default.
Question Author
so he asks for an extension, the EUSSR could well refuse, clock runs down, no deal.
//...the EUSSR could well refuse,//

Yes. And I could well win the Olympic 100m final in next year's games.

Why would anybody with self-respect want to be subject to an organisation which insists on so many "musts"?

Peopel without self-respect need not reply.
More wonky words from Jim.

The Mother of all Parliaments, at the hands of the Remainers, now devoid of all semblance of honour and integrity. Makes you proud to be British dunnit!!
The EU said some time ago- that there would be no further extensions after 31st October, unless there was a good reason for the request.
Have I missed something, or is there a good reason other than just stalling.
