Why Is Boris John On A General Election Tour ?
Boris’ General Election was cancelled on Tuesday.
Why is he still touring the realm handing out dosh from the Magic Money tree?
Yesterday he was in Yorkshire. It didn’t go well. A man asked him “Why aren’t you in Brussels negotiating, instead of wasting your time in Morley ? It’ a good question.
Today the Boris Battle Bus is in Aberdeen. He wasn’t met by the Conservative Scottish leader (because she resigned). It wasn’t long before his first gaffe. He started bidding on a box of Cod, but had no idea what was a good price to pay, so he won the auction by overpaying for it. Maybe it is a good thing he is hanging around a fish market than negotiating in Brussels .

Naomi; so you think his visit to Yorkshire went very well? What about the poor WPC Cadet who almost fainted - as he carried on waffling, turning an announcement about police recruiting into electioneering. The fact it happened in front of the cameras means that she will never live it down. Obviously Boris has never had to stand in full uniform under a hot sun for an hour or more.
I don't think anyone would seriously argue that public figures should stop speaking in public at all because someone might faint. On the other hand, when the person directly behind him fainted might have been a good place to stop immediately, rather than carry on for another few minutes.
There's also the concern that, while, yes, the campaign has probably started in practice, in theory it has to wait until Parliament has agreed that there should be an election. That hasn't happened yet; until then, it could be argued to be more than a little abusive of the privileges of office to hold what is effectively a campaign speech with a row of police cadets behind you, who you presumably took out of their normal duties.

Naomi, it's not a daft thing to say. He was an hour late yet the cadets had to remain at the ready. He could have asked someone to take care of the young woman, then carried on with his electioneering. Once, just once did i almost faint while on parade and i did what we were instructed to do; came to attention and marched off the parade ground.
As regards the Queen and the TTC, HM would never keep the troops waiting for an hour. And i wasn't having a go at Boris for the fact she almost fainted - more for the way he carried on with his broadside at Corbyn knowing full well she was in some distress.
