Royal Mail Sexism - But Better Late Than Never
24 Answers
The Royal Mail has today released a commemorative set of stamps celebrating England Cricket's Men's team winning the World Cup this year.
They didn't do this for the Women's similar achievement in 2017, but they have now addressed this with a further set today celebrating the Women's achievement.
Surely a case of "We can't do it for the Men without doing it for the Women, we'll get slaughtered PR wise. So let's patch them in 2 years too late and hope for the best".

However there is a lot of interest in sporting cup finals involving men so they make stamps to celebrate a memorable achievement.
Unfortunately the bleating liberal lefties will always cry "not fair" when the lesser of the two is not recognised, so yes it is a PR job.
The sad thing is, collectors can't miss a set or it will ruin their collection, so the same people that were saying unfair then have the ammunition to say "see told you there was interest".

The records that were broken were viewers for the "womens" version. Where are the comparison viewing figures with the mens?
The BBC trumpeted the figures they got for the womens semi final which was broadcast at a time when there was very little to watch on any of the other terrestrial channels and involved the England womens team. I don't recall any mention of the figures for the final, was that perhaps because very few watched it?

what's a print run, CAC? Canary's talking about stamps, which most people buy (or not, as they choose) regardless of what's on them, rather than a novel which has to have something in it to attract readers.
My guess is there are lots more people out there interested in women's cricket than in the gurning championship (which was on a stamp a few months ago).
