Maybe just somebody justifying their job and enjoying the sound of their own voice?
Seems like it on reading the text.

couldnt care less if it is or isnt a sign they use...ban it and they will use another..and on it goes
does it mean i'll have to stop using the gesture when okaying a wine in a restaurant?
I’ve never seen it before.
Here's what I think (Jeremy Clarkson voice)- I dunnoooo, no wait....

I suppose that'll depend on whether you intend to annex the adjacent table, ael.
How was your holiday, Douglas? We all enjoyed it. ;-)
This story has been around for years. And it's still nonsense.

It was great thanks, Brexit and rain free.

Back to the grind tomorrow.
Doog wud've enjoyed it more if he'd've smuggled me in his baggage like he was tempted!!

Hmmmm, it will be a future case study!!! :-(
Seemingly the 'praying' emoji is supposed to be a 'high five' emoji. I'm just going out (for my 0900hrs start at work) so I can't give you a link.
The suspect is clearly just admitting what he is. No point in considering that a hate gesture, unless maybe self hate.
Its long been a white power sign, but that's not to say it should be banned. Adapting it for the friendlier "okay" sign is a much better way to eradicate it's far right use.
I fail to see how you can ban a sign like this - it would need the Thought Police to know beyond reasonable doubt that the gesture was meant as a hate message, or simply that someone was indicating 'OK' in an ages-old accepted manner.

I clue is pretty much who is doing the signing - if it's a mum signalling to her her child at the school gate as they go in, then it's probably OK, if it's a scowling hulk with a shaven head, dead eyes, and swastika tattoos on his face, then probably not.

Simple enough for those self-obsessed numpties with too much time on their hands looking for trouble to take on board?
Will it be banned from sub aqua diving also ?
Only for skinheads, TLC.
I never knew it was associated with 'white power' - since when? The kids at school used it freely and I learnt to use it when giving them an affirmation that their efforts were going well. My 8-yr-old granddaughter uses it to express her delight that she managed to play her piano piece without a mistake. Come on... this is all totally ridiculous.

"it would need the Thought Police to know beyond reasonable doubt that the gesture was meant as a hate message,"

Nope, just enough roasters whining in the prescibed manner and demanding a constable acts on their behalf, immediately.
