They do say that history repeats it's self.
Is Black History Month recognized or observed in any predominantly black countries?
Not really sure what's to whinge about - interesting talks, poetry sessions, craft workshops, film screenings, music performances, celebrations of people from the past etc

Depending on your area of course there will be something going on.

For example.

Mamy much like the gripe against Greta the gripe about black history is that people feel to blame, or like they're being blamed. This causes people in most cases to get defensive, and when you get defensive, you try to put something onto someone else.
I'd love the hand made crafts and card making workshops.

Also it has reminded me that I really want to watch

All of the conversations I have had with Black acquaintances or family members, none has revolved around slavery.

One exception was my Mother who used a word to describe a beautiful child apparently not knowing it's real meaning, no umbrage was taken as the joy on her face when she said it was proof of her innocence.
they gave us the blues, and all the music styles that stemmed from it.
thats worth celebrating..

LOL. AOG. Nice one.
Ha! 14:10 that made me chuckle ..
Why on earth do we have to keep dragging up the past and how divisive it was? We should be looking forward to a more cohesive and inclusive future. The past is dead and the future has yet to come . Let's live for the today and not yesterday.

Isn't that what history is about - researching, understanding, interpreting, possibly re-interpreting the past?
SPICERACK, was I mistaken in my thinking I can ask a question to elecit further information?
It's good to drag up the past. Lest we forget.
I think remember but don't wallow, carp and nit-pick, spathologist.
Spicerack//I can't help noticing, corby, that all your answers lately take the form of a question.
Is this a technique you learned at your latest Common Purpose meeting or have you recently adopted a 4yr old?//
