Whilst our Brexit referendum wasn't set up in this way, some countries have two-stage referendums, i.e. should we consider X, then the government negotiates, drafts legislation, etc. and puts the result to a confirmatory referendum.

If there were to be a second referendum I hope it is clearer what the outcome people are voting for is - i.e. leave (deal or no deal), leave (but only with a deal), or stay fettered to an un-democratic European megastate (or similar -;)
