I've always had faith in those Scottish Judges!

jim: "Topic for another thread, but it's amazing how quickly Leave supporters, Farage excepted, have abandoned their supposed principles. " err what principles? If it's still May's deal with a backstop adjustment then I'd rather remain anyway. The only acceptable choice now is no deal.
One is simply trying to argue that in an effort to find a compromise it ought not be dismissed out of hand. Otherwise folk will be admitting that which I've suggested for ages, that there is no reasonable compromise that the EU would accept, not even one that fails to respect the valid necessary red lines we have been trying for.

If everyone has abandoned all hope of a deal why are we still in the EU ? May as well face reality and be out.

Reference to "supposed principles" I'd have hoped were not your style.
I'm thinking primarily of the ERG MPs, or the DUP, TTT.
The judgement says,
"I would add only this. I approach matters on the basis that it would be destructive of one of the core principles of constitutional propriety and of the mutual trust that is the bedrock of the relationship between the court and the Crown for the Prime Minister or the government to renege on what they have assured the court that the Prime Minister intends to do. As the Advocate General’s note of argument says:
“As already noted, the Prime Minister is well aware of his duty to obey the law, including the frustration principle, and is and will continue to be advised in the
usual way on any issues as to the lawfulness of his proposed actions.”
I tell ya, there's gonna be a lot of reputations & political careers in tatters when this is over, & it won't be Boris's.
The judgment just says there’s no need to force him as he’s said he’s going to do it anyway.
There isn’t really any more they could do short of frog marching him to Brussels.
Another pointless court case.
//Another pointless court case. //

seconds out - round two...…
