"Immunity is no longer pertinent."

Now she shows remorse.
Genuine, or a damage limitation exercise?

As I understand it she never had Diplomatic Immunity in the first place. Her husband was not a diplomat and had not registered for D I anyway. To have a hand delivered letter from the Commonwealth Office last night retracting the fact of DI seems very odd to say the least.
I can't see any reason to think someone whose error killed another, wouldn't be remorseful.
Just try extraditing her from the US to attend trial in the UK, different ball game entirely. She should at least be charged with 'Causing death by dangerous driving'
I meant Foreign Office not Commonwealth.
" She should at least be charged with 'Causing death by dangerous driving'"

I would say careless driving. It's not uncommon for overseas visitors to momentarily drive on the wrong side of the road (in any country) if it's opposite to their normal side. Usually they realise before anything bad happens.

Up until today, it would appear that the only info we had on Anne Sacoolas was that despite telling police she had no plans to leave the country, she still did.
Now she’s” devastated by this tragic accident” “extends her deepest sympathy to Harry Dunn's family” and “would like to meet with Mr Dunn's parents so that she can express her deepest sympathies and apologies for this tragic accident.”

Perhaps those words would have seemed more genuine if they had been spoken earlier.

I think Harry’s family have been very understanding and dignified.
If only she'd stayed to face the charges.
so if she no longer has immunity, can she be arrested if she visits any EUSSR country? Whilst we remain of course.
If she can't claim diplomatic immunity, do we not have an extradition treaty with the US - or is it one way (as with the US attempt to extradite the computer hacker who I believe managed to resist on health grounds).
yes arrods but I don't think the US have ever allowed an extradition.
it is of course an option that they could prosecute her themselves for the equivalent US offences which was originally what DI meant.
get her back to uk to answer charges.
I understand the concerns of the family & their wish to see the woman atone for her actions. But if anyone thinks rough justice will be handed out they are mistaken. As I said in another thread 2 years suspended sentence & a driving ban is probably the most she would get.
ok TCL so it is possible then, the anti British were telling me the other day that only the US get their own way in these matters.
