Leaving Themselves Open To Criticism.
After carrying out these non Royal duties; a holiday in Ibiza, staying on Elton Johns yatch in the South of France, a trip to New York to watch a game of tennis and a society wedding in Rome, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they need to take 6 weeks off from Royal duties! I can't see how this news will enthral the taxpayer. It has been said they will spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham, we'll see. It will be interesting to see how they spend those 6 weeks while thinking up an excuse not to go to Sandringham.

Mozz, did your autocorrect change me into a man too? :-)
The reason I worded it as I did was that although they both went to South Africa, I believe Meghan stayed in the same place meeting Desmond Tutu and a playgroup and probably some other bits and pieces, whereas Harry went on to carry out the tour without her. So in my eyes, that's a visit for her and a tour for him.

anne, did you feel that when Meghan was saying (how difficult it is 'behind the scenes) that she may have been referring to some members of the RF? I can't see that the Queen would be happy with her grandson and his wife going on TV to have a moan. Don't they have that saying of don't complain and don't explain? Or something like that.x
My apologies, I didn't even think of what gender you were, but was sure you weren't a European city :-D
I assume their respective visit plans came from the Palace rather than the Sussexes themselves. I thought Meghan came over pretty well in the reports I saw, but to be fair, I'm not so bothered either way. I just don't like seeing the sharks circling around people like they have been with her.

Mozz, I really don't know if the plans were made for them from the Palace but I doubt it. They seem to have their own PR team and advisors, so it might have been suggested that going with Harry might be too arduous for her.

I must admit that after watching the programme last night, it seems to me that it's not just the press and some of the public, she talked about behind the scenes and I wonder if that could mean some members of the RF?

Mozz I honestly doesn't bother me if she's an American divorcee of mixed race. It really is the overall effect to me that she still wants to be a celebrity and not be fenced in by all the rules and regulations that come with being a Royal. The visit would have been carefully planned but they have done some things without getting advice from the palace advisors and I'm pretty sure nobody (except thier own advisors)would have advised them to go on national TV to say the things they said.
The thing is the great British public expect our Royals to behave in certain ways and the long and short of it is, Meghan doesn't want to behave in these ways. An example of this is keeping Archie a secret from us for as long as she could, whereas William and Kate allow us a glimpse straight from birth and allow photographers to the christening when people arrive. This got a lot of people's backs up. I'm sure Harry would have told her all that would be expected of her, but she obviously didn't listen and as he loves her very much, he goes along with it to make her happy. It's not working though is it Harry …..
The thing is HereIam, is you've invented this scenario where Meghan wears the trousers and Harry is completely subservient to her every wish. To me, it's Harry remembering what happened to his mother and being extra careful, perhaps over careful in protecting Meghan and Archie from the same press he considers killed Diana.
To many people are quick to blame Meghan, when I believe they equally responsible.

I'm neither for nor against the RF, but i do sometimes have an opinion on them. After all, i help pay for their continuity. As the 'spare', Harry was probably allowed a lot more rope than William which allowed him his younger 'wild' days. He is, of course, more mature now, and a father, to boot. He also appears to be a lot more sensitive than we've hitherto seen. However, imho, he has never come across as someone who does as he is told. By anyone. I'm fairly confident that he and his wife discuss exactly what it is that each other will be doing. So to lay the blame solely at Meghan's door is wrong. It takes two to tango.
I find people's obsession with how they should or shouldn't be behaving a bit pathetic.
I won't be watching whatever programme they've made because I'm not interested, which probably explains why I don't feel the need be constantly 51aging them off.
I believe they do a lot of work for charity, and they seem like nice people, so good luck to them.

If these two want to be accepted all they ahve to do is:
1) Not behave like celebraties, Sparkles needs this spelt out and accept what the Royal Family is and not try to change it. It is not clever.
2) Stop preaching. Old jug ears tried this and he got bashed too, I notice he is pretty quiet now.
Do these two simple things aand I think they will find life far easier.
Alternatively leave these shores for the USA, but not take any cash from the UK Tax payer.
