Who should replace him? I think that Anne Widdecombe would make an excellent speaker.

Indeed. Imagine:

Order! Order!
I now have to announce the result of the latest division on Brexit under our new "Block voting" system where each member's vote is weighted according to how much money he an his friends have given the Labour Party.

The Ayes to the right - £1.297m
The Noes to the left - £13.104m

So, the Ayes have it because, er...er.. No! Wait! I mean the Noes have it! It will only cost, er….£38.369bn and the members have voted accordingly. Jeremy, what does it say here? No, that's what Mr McDonnell told me to say. Jeremy, Jeremy Order! Order! This isn't the Nick Ferrari breakfast show. Sit down or I'll tell the House about that night in Kidderminster. You know, when the bed collapsed in your room.

Order! Order! You lied Jeremy. You said I would be the Home Secretary.
oh heavens no, not Anne widdecombe, she is just too shrill and over the top.
I don't think anyone could reasonably claim that John Bercow has covered himself in glory in his role as Speaker.

The Speaker is supposed to be impartial, gracious, dignified, and run the business of the House properly - Mr Bercow is none of the first three, and did not do the second.

He will not be missed.
I'll certainly miss him partially for the precise thing he did just the other day. A Tory MP had tried to claim that he found too often in favour of one 'side' rather than the other. Mr Bercow rightly pointed out that - when he had tended to find too often in favour of that MP's 'side' - the latter had made no complaint whatsoever.
Enjoy your retirement from the Speakership, Mr B, you were wonderful value.
Of course not, the issue was the frequency and subsequent comparison/contrast.
Good riddance to that obnoxious creature. Please can we have someone who understands what the position entails and knows how to conduct themselves with dignity.
Betty Boothroyd was an excellent Speaker. Bercow is an odious little man.
