I find this confusing. Some see it as evidence that the government policies are driving lots more people into poverty. But isn't this also a sign that more food is being being donated - so it's a form of redistribution of wealth. If donations haven't increased then presumably when demand was lower food there was a surplus of food in foodbanks or they gave out bigger portions. Demand will equal supply won't it? As more is donated and more are aware then more people will be served. Or are we serving more people as demand grows but giving smaller portions so foodbank users are still going hungry?

there's no one starving in this country unless they want to be. The *** spend all their money on dope, fags, booze, tough stickers and food is way down the list.
Tora, there is no way that you know the situation of everyone who has ever used a food Bank.
Once upon a time people with no funds could apply for a DWP Crisis Loan for food. (Prior to that food vouchers could be issued - marked no Tobacco or Alcohol). So food banks are not a new idea.

Some people will abuse them, getting help where there is no need. But others will genuinely need the service.
TTT...go volunteer in a food bank, or for any agency or charity that assists those in need. Then come back and express an opinion based on fact.
why? It's obvious, we are one of the most generous benefit givers in the world, everyone gets enough. Our poorest are millionaires compared to those starving in Africa etc. It's about their priorities, they spend their money on other things knowing there is free food in the food banks.
TTT...you ignorance is staggering.
Pointless trying to educate him , he watched some poverty porn on telly.

Knows it all now.
"TTT...you ignorance is staggering"

Much like his gait at present I suspect. :-)
Maybe TTT should see if he can get a food bank voucher. Then he can have first hand experience...no fresh food, just enough tinned and dry staples to keep him going for three days or so.
I'd stop buying cigarettes at £10 a packet then.
Some of you are disgustingly and selfishly ignorant.
God help you.
Pasta, do you supply dog food for any canine guests?
Yes, we do wolf. In fact, today I brought in some treats that Sally no longer likes.
Who is ignorant, theland?
The ignorant are those wearing blinkers to what is happening in the real world.
No more posts from me on this, a waste of time.
What's the "real world", Theland?
Some of us see it every day...without bias or judgement.
Really sad situation. I've used a foodbank before as a teenager and I've fished food out of supermarket bin so I know what it's like to have no options and how demeaning it is to have to rely on charity.
I'm getting to like you, Tim...even though you were a bit down on oldies a few weeks ago if I recall correctly. ;))
Pasta, don't!! Tim'll be questioning your memory capacity next!
(joking :-) x)
