This sentence would have allowed him to be kept in prison beyond the minimum term.
But in 2013 the Court of Appeal quashed the sentence, replacing it with a 16-year-fixed term of which Khan should serve half in prison."

When I was at school half of 16 is 8 and 8 added ro 2012 would be 2020.
So how is he out, automatically or not?

Leftie liberal have a lot to anser for within the Judiciary system. They seem to be able to interpret Governent laws in a manner certinly not in the spirit to which they were passed.
I think laws need to be full sentences. No parole. If the judge thinks only 8 years is requierd then pass eight and not 16. At present we are being hoodwinked.

I feel sorry for the guy pictured on the front of today's Telegraph with a knife, and blood on his hands. Other papers have pixelated his face, but the Telegraph did not, and anyone looking at their front page would assume he was the perpetrator - he was actually one of the brave bystanders who tackled the Islamist fanatic.
Now he is identifiable he might well be a target for other Islamists.
