Coal harms human health at every stage of its life cycle, except when it is left in the ground.
Coal combustion produces more air pollution, and more planet-warming CO2 emissions, than other fossil fuel energy sources e.g. natural gas. It is a carbon-intensive fuel and accounts for around 20% of all greenhouse gas emissions, worldwide. Limiting CO2 emissions from coal plants is key to reducing our global contribution to greenhouse gases.
So getting rid of coal as a fuel is a seriously good thing.

isn't it funny how attitudes change - battles were fought to keep the uk coal industry, families were bitterly divided by the issue, and some still are. what would Mr Scargill's attitude have been if he'd survived as union leader into the Greta Thunberg era?

Surely the Labour speaker Richard somebody is the worst choice they could ever have picked. He was just hopeless
It's great that the coal mining industry and miners has gone . One of the great triumphs of Margaret Thatcher and also Harold Wilson. Due to black lung decease miners lived on average 10 years less than the rest of the country. A dirty filthy and dangerous job phased out

I’m voting LibDem, not because I particularly want Jo S as our PM, but the best thing I can do with my vote is to try to reduce the number of Cons in the House. (And my LibD candidate was very good last time she was in.)
I think there are other more important things to worry about than the metaphorical ‘red button’.

//I stick to what im saying,NewJudge.I will take Jo a million times before i would even consider these worthless poltroons(and poltrooness).//
So no answer to my question, then.

Then my question must go to you, too, Cloverjo. The policy of the party Ms Swinson leads is to cancel Brexit unilaterally and without further reference to the electorate. So what would you say to the 17.4m people who voted to leave? They were asked a question and the government of the day told them their decision would be implemented.

It's not long since it came to light that Nuclear Armageddon (mutual destruction/obliteration) was narrowly averted a few decades ago when a Russian individual chose to ignore an alarm to the effect that the USA had launched a massive attack on the Soviet Union - he went against protocol and neutralised the alarm and nothing happened. The implication here is that contributors would welcome the missiles being sent off if the reverse situation arose, just to unequivocally ensure that "the enemy" is destroyed, and the planet with it, because the system says an attack is on the way (falsely, as it would turn out, until there is a reaction to the erroneous retaliation). Jeez, what a bunch of dangerous numpties.

This one's quite easy, isn't it? If Jo Swinson gets in, it would be this country's biggest political earthquake ever. So clearly Remain would have become the will of the people. 2019 election trumps 2016 referendum.
