I read The Guardian (amongst other newspapers) because it has intelligent, informed journalism. With regard to this link, anyone who has been involved in education in any way since the Tories came to power has first-hand knowledge of the disastrous effects of spending cuts on education.

I was a teacher until I retired and now I'm a school governor so can see the under-funding all around me and witness the immense pressure on schools and staff.

Would never be accepted. Authorities need the freedom to change priorities as circumstances change or become clearer.

I'm surprised that a Guardian reader isn't aware that the recent extended period of austerity resulting in cuts to the education budget, as well as many other budgets, is a direct result of measures necessary to repair the damage done by the overspending and bad management of previous Labour administrations at a time of worldwide recession. Or do you conveniently just forget that fact?

Did the marxist rag report the latest OECD Pisa tests that show the marked improvement in the results of some British schoolchildren? I say some because where the SNP and Layboor still control the curriculum the results are worse than ever. The improbvements have been achieved by the Conservative Government and Michael Gove in particular rolling back the dumbing down process much loved by our marxists. The last thing they want are educated smart children . They need millions of mindless unthinking clones of themselves all the better to manipulate and control. Just think this serial poster of peurile tosh has spent a lifetime teaching your kids and grandkids their twisted doctrine. They are ever likely to be scared to death of being monitored or having their performance levels and fitness to teach judged.
