Boris used a colon, Jezza didn't. I rest my case. Boris probably should have used a comma after "society" in the first sentence.

Punctuation is important but AB isn't an English grammar course so people should stop getting hysterical about typos. Most people know the correct punctuation and grammar but also bash out a reply quickly, not always checking themselves, not expecting it to be marked by Emily Twinset.

@TTT 11.40. There is a big difference between a typo (an accidental mistake) and not knowing how to spell, punctuate or construct a meaningful sentence in the first place.

The founder of the Apostrophe Society was òn radio a few days ago - more or less admitting defeat unfortunately. But he said the last straw was when he noticed a cafe owner writing coffee's on a board. So he very courageously and gently pointed this out to the man. And the man heard him out and said " well I'm sure you're right but I think it looks better this way". !!
Can't argue with that I suppose.
