How many eons did the people of the middle east spend trading and living peacefully together, until western societies stuck their noses in?

One harvests what one plants.
Ozzy - Iran has always had ambitions, and all the Muslim countries are committed to anhialating Israel.
Every county has ambitions Theland, some more so than others.
With each day that passes I'm more convinced the Trump thinks House Of Cards with Kevin Spacey is a How To Be A President guide.
//How many eons did the people of the middle east spend trading and living peacefully together, until western societies stuck their noses in? //

wars and conquests have been part and parcel of every human society almost from the dawn of time and in that respect, the middle east has never been any different. for instance, the Sumerians and Akkadians dominated Mesopotamia (Tigris and Euphrates) from the beginning of written history (c. 3100 BC) to the fall of Babylon in 539 BC, when it was conquered by the Achaemenid Empire. It fell to Alexander the Great in 332 BC, and after his death, it became part of the Greek Seleucid Empire, and was then conquered by the Parthians in 150BC. and in all that time, no sign of the Americans, the British, or any other western civilisation, until the Romans. to suggest middle easterners were a peace loving lot until whipped up by western warmongers is a little wide of the mark.
80 killed in the attack - according to the Mehr News Agency....

Believe that and you'll believe that I am the Ayatollah.
Jackdaw @ 00.28; "As far as I am concerned they can blast each other to eternity."
Totally agree. Just as long as none of our lads and lasses get caught in the crossfire.
The West, with their meddling took out Saddam Hussein and Gaddafi and left a huge vacuum to the Middle East, they are now seeing the fruits of their labour, bring British troops home NOW , this not our war!
We'll do as the Americans bid us do, Bobbisox. That is, if we want to keep the 'special relationship' going and those 'pencilled-in' "great trade deals".
Ken let’s just hope we aren’t Trumps pre Election puppets and that Boris shows some mettle by getting British troops home
Trump throws a wobbly and within hours the US takes out their top general.
Iran can fire missiles but although potentially deadly they have nothing like the technology of the US or the firepower and they know it.
To do nothing though is to look like weakness.
A wise president will play this cool but so far this unwise one has done just that.
The irony is that General Suleimani helped the US sort out their own ness in Iraq and to defeat ISIS early on.
And provided intelligence on the Taliban and Al Qaeda. It just shows how volatile the ME is.
Don’t think tho that US troops being forced to leave Iraq is a good thing. It wouldn’t be.
And?

Did anybody think the Iranians would not do something? They have to in order to show their minions they are powerful and thus keep the minions in place. It clearly is a propaganda exercise, claiming the 80 dead shows this.- how could they possibly know (including the Nationalities) so soon?

Guided missiles in the hands of misguided wackjobs.
1ozzy: "How many eons did the people of the middle east spend trading and living peacefully together, until western societies stuck their noses in?" - did they do history on your planet? PMSL!
YMB 08:40, yes, this allows Iran to save some face, as long as there are no casualties the septics will call it quits and I think Iran will too, they know that the septics can flatten anything they have from 1 aircraft carrier with a few presses of a button, so, privately, they'll be keen to calm it all down and publicly they'll claim "victory against the great satan" etc for their public consumption.
Been plenty of empires rise and fall in the Middle East / Mediterranean region over history. Most other places too.
Regardless of great trade deals, one supports one's allies, or finds one has none.
Especially large powerful ones.
Personally I think that US fool has displayed even fewer brain cells than he usually does.

So he should have just sat back and waited for the attack that Iran was planning for? . I don't think so.
