Diana appeared to use the press to her advantage. Harry and Megan chose to spend 6 weeks abroad. The family photo of the four Royals could have been taken during that time. Harry, unless there is a disaster, has little chance of becoming king. They have the right to decide their own role in life but, to my mind, have shown a complete disregard and disrespect to the Queen and Harry’s father and, to some degree to the country that has enabled them to live a comfortable life. If they want to live as private citizens fine but then pay or contribute to their own security.

The Royal Family occupies a unique position in our culture, being so examined and commented on by people who know nothing at all about them, and simultaneously being denied the right of reply.

In that situation, I can't blame Harry and his wife for wanting to step off that particular merry-go-round, and papers like the Mail will devote acres of print to convey their outrage, which will chime entirely with their readership.

I don't believe Harry is 'whipped', I think he is a young man who has enjoyed a taste of 'real life' during his army service, and has decided that it is how he would prefer to live for the rest of his life, his family included.

I do think if he is going to step out of royalty, he needs to do so completely, to dip in and out at will would be to insult the populace and his family.

We shall see how this pans out.

I wonder if this would have happened if he had married Cressida Bonas or Chelsey Davy? There is no way of knowing of course, but I think either of these two would have fitted into the RF and none of the fall outs would have happened.Just my opinion of course.

Let them do what they want but ... take away their HRH titles. Make them give back the £2.4 million of taxpayers money to refurbish Frogmore. They have over £40m apparently so can well afford it. And make them pay for their own security. Too many hangers on in the Royal Family, we won’t miss these two.

At the same time keeping their 'cottage' at Frogmore and having the UK taxpayer provide their security, what we used to call wanting
the 'cake an th'apenny'.
Hopefully HM will take Frogmore Cottage back, it's still Crown property, not their's outright, HM can no more give it to them than she can give WIndsor Castle away. They're either in or out of the RF, she, Mrs Sussex, needs to make their mind up.

Nobody is looking at this deeply enough. The RF aren't stupid, they're very cunning. This move (which is actually secretly supported by the RF) is designed to remove Harry from the limelight and tuck him away somewhere abroad for when they eventually reveal/confirm that Charles is not his father, and not therefore in the throne line.

Well, whatever they decide to do, wherever they put down roots ,if anyone thinks that all will be a bed of roses for them in the future then I think they will be sadly mistaken.
