jackdaw, before you recommend firing some nuclear weapons off and killing innocent people, are you certain that Iran has no nuclear ability, or some friends that do?

The country is a basket case and the sooner a few well-directed nukes drive the mad mullahs who run it off the face of this planet the better.
The Iranian leaders are extremist idiots. The USA says it doesn't want regime change there but I can't for the life of me think why!

It’s the regime changes like Libya and Iraq by the West that’s sees us in this mess now
I was speaking figuratively. 40 years ago the mad ayatollah returned from exile and overthrew the Shah. The place has gone downhill ever since.

JD one of the ‘funniest ‘ things seen on tv, when they held the coffin aloft of Ayatollah Khomeini....only to drop it :0)
"It’s the regime changes like Libya and Iraq by the West that’s sees us in this mess now"

Oh yes - things would be much better with Saddam & Gadaffi still in power!

Davebro, fair enough but there was no ‘hereafter’ which left a huge vacuum for the many factions there, one trying to out do the other and the birth of ISIS
yes davebro but they did keep the population well suppressed and was no ISIS.
At least regime change in Iran leaving a "vacuum" of warring factions would pretty much destroy any capability they have of going nuclear.
It’s impossible to say what Iraq or Libya would be like if history had been different.
Syria exploded without outside interference (despite what some claim). It’s hard to see how that could have ended worse.
Promoting regime change when you have little idea what sort of regime you might get in place of the current one is usually reckless.

Which is exactly what happened ich when the West meddled
What happened?
Question Author
Mayhem, that’s what, at least Gaddafi and Saddam Hussein held warring factions together
Blair and his American pal decided they could sort all the problems out. What a mess that was.
The two situations in Iraq and Libya were very different.
There’s a difference between intervening and actively pursuing regime change.
The intervention in Libya initially was to prevent a bloodbath in the east of the country when Gaddafi threatened to commit war crimes. That turned out badly but it would have turned out badly anyway as the war in Libya was already raging.
Iraq was more a pute attempt at regime change. Makes little sense unless you know what might come next.
If Trump thinks regime change in Iran is a good idea he is very foolish.

Which is what I said ich, going in and not having a plan was idiocy personified
They're firefighting. Doing and claiming anything to try to get the situation back under control. How many they actually convince is a different story.
hat does spinning on one leg mean in this context?
It now looks as though Iranians are turning against their leaders and calling them liars.

'In some social media clips, protesters can be heard chanting anti-government slogans, including: "They are lying that our enemy is America, our enemy is right here."'
