I'll never get tired of bashing Andrew, Jackdaw. He was once someone who I admired greatly due to his Falklands service. Since then, however...………………………………….
Yes he was directed towards the Royal Marines. A career to which he was totally unsuited (along with probably >99.9% of the rest of the population).
He has taken over many, if not most of the Duke of Edinburgh's responsibilities since he retired from public life and it is rumoured that he will take the title upon his father's death. He is, incidentally, the only one of the Queen's four children who has not divorced.
He joined the Marines and had the guts to say he wasn't suited to the job, in his position it took some courage to admit that. I do realise that thinking this way this puts me in a small minority, I recall a military friend of ours commenting that he wished more would come to that conclusion sooner rather than later.
In 2018, Prince Edward was third in the list of 'who did the most Royal engagements', after Charles and Anne - and he's likely to have done even more in 2019 as he's taken over a lot of the Duke of Edinburgh's work.
Theland, we hear hardly anything about Edward and also about Princess Anne. This doesn't mean they do nothing, of course... but I'm sure you knew that really.
He doesn't seem to be a person who has a go at people he doesn't know ..... I wish that more people were like that..the vileness of some who think they know it all says more about their ignorance and sheer nastiness than about those they target. Sad little people.
He had a couple of swerves growing up - possibly being bullied into the marines by Philip who, like a lot of fathers, does not grasp the simple fact that his children are not mirror images of him, and don't want to re-live his youth for him.
The TV company failed, but in both instances, he took the flak and kept quiet, and now does all his royal engagements without fuss - which is all anyone wants of any Royal.
