Apparently they're going to be put in quarantine for 14 days possibly at Military bases, but....
a) what about the other people on the flight (aircraft are notorious for spreading germs / diseases etc)?
b) what about the crew?
Is this the right decision?

what else could they do? especially since it appears that the infected are infectious before they show symptoms?

although - to test that theory, shouldn't it be posted to the science category and see if it gets deleted?

I tend to agree, although on a personal/selfish level I have to admit I will be a lot more comfortable when my nephew is home.
It's not just the disease that is the problem now. Locking down has caused panic buying and food is not plentiful in many places now. In addition information is not getting out which is breeding panic and scare stories.

The flights from Wuhan, and other areas start tomorrow, and there are a reported 3,000 people to be repatriated. British Airways also announced it would be suspending direct flights to the Chinese mainland Wednesday, cancelling Beijing and Shanghai bookings up to March 2020. It looks like the quarantined travellers will be housed military bases which, already equipped with barracks, medical facilities, and ease of securing the location, are the logical choice. No word on whether the soldiers or current military personnel will be moved out. Other Countries have now moved to make similar arrangements and more countries have banned all travel to and from China.
They're all likely to be Tory Voters, of course they get looked after by the Tory government, meanwhile the poor in this country (who'll never vote Tory) still have to struggle with soup kitchens, begging, cut/stopped/delayed benefits, homelessness, etc etc. It's called democracy.
What they should have done was fly Boris out there to intervene, then they would have been retained out there twice as long like Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

Taiwan has started fining people who do not report "flu like symptoms" to the health authorities. Hong Kong has banned the movement of people into the city from mainland China, which has of course ramifications beyond the virus outbreak considerations but the Chinese are now saying that the virus spread is now "miraculously declining". Their words, and from China’s National Health Commission. But...."Multiple reports from Chinese health workers and potential virus carriers suggest that the reason for such a discrepancy between the Communist Party’s numbers and those of scientists in the free world is that Beijing is deliberately refusing to confirm probable cases." Don't think that we should be taking any chances at this stage do you?
Just found this snippet buried in my alternative sources files.
"Multiple reports from Chinese health workers and potential virus carriers suggest that the reason for such a discrepancy between the Communist Party’s numbers and those of scientists in the free world is that Beijing is deliberately refusing to confirm probable cases."
Disclaimer. Neither this site nor the individual poster believe a word of it and distance themselves from such speculation until it is proven to be true or we are all dead from the deadly virus.

That went on to say..
"Unnamed sources throughout American and international media within Wuhan say that the city’s hospitals are desperately lacking in testing kits for the new virus and refuse to test individuals that state hospital officials do not approve.
The result has been individuals with fever, coughing, fatigue, and other telltale coronavirus symptoms being turned away and thus not forming part of the official count.
The Global Times itself admitted in an article this week that Wuhan has a severe testing kit shortage, all but confirming these reports.
Other reports of deaths in the city indicate that officials are also refusing to test people already in inpatient case at hospitals with pneumonia. In one prominent case, environmental activist Xu Dapeng died of pneumonia in Wuhan last week, three days after Beijing revealed to the world it had identified a new virus. Doctors refused to test Xu for the virus and documented his passing as a result of an unrelated respiratory illness. Those exposed to Xu, according to sources speaking to Radio Free Asia (RFA), have not been able to procure a test to see if they are carrying the virus."
How scared would you like to be??? Thorn in the side of the Chinese authorities, environmentalist activist dies of a previously unknown virus without much comment and now potentially millions have it. I read a tongue in cheek post of PePe's on here a week or so ago where he joked that it was unclear whether the injections being given were to treat the virus or to help it spread. Haha I though.........what was I thinking?

""Britons stranded in a coronavirus-hit city in China are set be flown home tomorrow and isolated for two weeks, possibly in a military barracks, to stop the killer infection spreading in the UK.
The repatriation plane, which is due to leave Wuhan early tomorrow morning, may fly straight to a military base in the UK.
The pilots, attendants and medics will be issued with protective equipment to stop them being struck down by the virus""
