Jeeez .
Just my luck. What a time to go on the wagon. Fizzy water and PLJ has been my tipple for the last month.
bet some of the pubs were packed out...
Another good reason to avoid Wetherspoons like the plague.
i like Wetherspoons they are a good chain of pubs.
Diddly //Another good reason to avoid Wetherspoons like the plague.//
Why is that, have you an objection to pigs in blankets or alcoholic drinks?
They vary, but most are often packed out.
Many are noisy as a result, but one can find quiet times at one's local.
For a chain, they ain't bad. Depends on what one is looking for.
often a quiet one, but we have a local bar that takes that to the extreme..
Sticky floors, disgusting cheap food, rowdy clientele, zero atmosphere - how many more reasons would you like?
Diddly, so you have visited every Wetherspoon's establishment then?
we can't all have a decent non chain pub on our doorstep. I wish there was a Wetherspoons in my area, but there isn't.
Off to Leeds later. Might have to partake.
Danny - any that I've been into when desperate have been like that.
So why did you keep going back to them?
//Sticky floors, disgusting cheap food, rowdy clientele, zero atmosphere //

Well, diddly, in order to make that assessment you've either visited many branches - which would suggest your first, second, third, etc., experiences couldn't have been so bad - or you've misread the sign outside and have gone to a greasy spoon by mistake.
there is that of course, you must have been in a fair few to give that assessment.
I think Diddly's original post was more to do with JD celebrating Brexit rather the condition of his pubs.

How can you say there is no atmosphere then go on to describe a negative atmosphere?
I've been in a few when e.g.in god-forsaken places and they've been the only place open on Sunday lunchtime or I've been invited by colleagues to join them for a drink after a meeting and a Spoons is the nearest pub.
//in god-forsaken places //

Outer Mongolia, Antarctica, the Amazonian jungle, or that little remote Remainer village somewhere in the wilds of Oxfordshire?
No Naomi - Lincolnshire. There are some great pubs in Oxfordshire.
