See here from the BBC website while I play "Ode to Joy":

EU anthem beats Brexit ballad in the charts
Remainers may have lost the battle to keep the UK in the EU but they could take a small crumb of comfort from the fact that they are victorious in the charts.

Two songs fought it out to be this week's most downloaded song - one was the EU anthem Ode to Joy, the other a song written by comedian Dominic Frisby called... well we can't really repeat the title here, suffice to say it was less than polite about the EU.

Neither made it to the number one slot but with Andre Reiu's version of Ode to Joy reaching number 30 it beat Mr Frisby's song which got to the 43rd position.

You just don't get it do you?
Yes, we get it. You are clutching at straws
Bully for Beethoven.
Still, the other song is still more relevant to today's world.
I get our National Anthem trumps both.
Haha the poor soles who bought Ode to Joy were less than joyous and they still have to do what Dominic Frisby advises.
Bloody Heck Diddly, when I read your post ,and you mentioned " a song written by Comedian Dominic Frisby " I thought you were going to say Comedian Dominic Cummings.
I see that Scotland will Score again Tonight with "Auld
Lang Syne , well done Scotland.
//I see that Scotland will Score again Tonight with "Auld (etc) //

there might be a few diehard cybernats protesting on the streets - but this is more in tune with a Scottish Friday night.....

Who cares. I wouldn’t buy either.
Just watch out for the UK's scores in the next Eurovision contest!!!!
diddly would you go out with me for a drink? i think you need cheering up love!
Mr Frisby didn't try very hard did he?

Powsy.

What happened to Diddly's link ?
Well, since the Brexit song appears to include foul language - I'm not surprised. 'Ode to Joy' is a good bit of music, I won't downgrade it because of the EU. That would be like my dad refusing to play any Wagner because of WW2 (he did). Some Wagner is good music. Anyway - I'm a Beethoven fan. :)
Righteo, let me put on my charts nerd hat on.

The current charts are practically meaningless, as the combine crap like downloads, streams and airplay to factor into the chart position. If you take only sales, Dominic Frisby's "comedic" effort is currently at number three in the charts. Behind Lewis Capaldi's latest tune at number one.

Oh, and Ode To Joy at number two. ;-)

Ironically, given his name, a frisby is one of the few things a vinyl copy of the song is good for.

Given the fact Ode to Joy is a beautiful piece of music, it's hardly surprising, but let's be honest, it isn't really important in the grand scheme of things, is it?
diddly, come on come out for a drinky poo!

TTT - I'd rather die in a ditch than come for a drink with you.
