retrocop- you know as well as I that lack of control through being under the influence of drugs (I include alcohol) leads to dreadful, unthought of actions.
The really horrible thing is that drugs are not only so easily available now, but are more socially acceptable. Hash, spliffs etc. were easily available when I was 20 (and younger) - but I never accepted any offers...… this was handy when teaching because I knew the smells!
It's the social acceptability that is the real problem, My grandchildren have been left in no doubt as to my reaction should they go within sniffing distance. How does one turn the tide? A course in morality and self-control would help, as well as giving assemblies daily in schools - with a basis in Christianity, duty and self-control. Well, I can be shot down by that, but never mind. :)
