A message to the Those who pooh-pooh the idea of taking precautions against Covid-19 because the fatality figures are “so low”

Tell me, do you cross the road without looking, after all the fatality figures are "low compared with normal seasonal flu". Right, so you do look, OK then does it not occur to you that taking that precaution is what keeps the figures down.

Well, the same applies to Covid-19, the figures are low because, unlike you boneheads, most peole are taking precautions. If you join in then we can get the figures even lower.

Just been out for milk and catfood, I must be a bonehead ,lol.
This thread is now "Active".
Well done on getting your thread back.
Haven't noticed any boneheads ignoring the virus, to be honest.
But with a virus vaccine 1 to 2 years away, and a strategy that most will catch it but one needs to avoid the hump, it's hardly comparable. Unless one thinks getting knocked over in traffic is inevitable also and we're just spreading the accident hump by looking out.
At the beginning of the month, so many on this site and elsewhere were regarding warnings about the scale as "scaremongering". Even 10 days ago some were pointing at the small scale in the UK. How quickly things have moved on.
Yeah I thought it was all a bit over the top. I was saying we get viruses every year surely it's the same to like swine flu or something.

In ways it is similar I guess.

All I know is until it's all over then we won't know much about if it is true or not so best hope for the best but prepare for the worst and take as many precautions as you can because even still, being hygienic is never a problem and neither is respecting peoples personal space.
The message from the Gov was low key. If they and all their scientists weren't getting excited, why would we.
I'm staying in. I've been poorly, not the virus, I hope, but I have an uncle who is in remission and an aunt who has terminal cancer plus we have new born babies. I'm staying away from them.
Perhaps, but the warning signs were out there.
TBH, it’s hard to get too worried down here. There has been only 5 confirmed cases and no deaths in my county, and it’s a big county. I’m being careful of course. I have an elderly dad and husband.
After seeing the graphs comparing infection rates for different countries, we definitely appear to be lagging behind, and things will, I fear, get much worse.
I am in the very high risk group, and really worried.
My big worry is if anything happens to me, my wife would be left alone, and in spite of our six kids and their families for support, well, you know what I mean.
I have even taken the precaution of giving one of my sons my log on details for Answerbank, so that if I pop my clogs, Alex will introduce himself and let you know that I am on cloud nine playing the harp :-)
Yes I am deadly serious, but still have to have a laugh.
Perhaps you should take harp lessons before you leave.
The Gov said yesterday their efforts have produced unseen response, and they basically said they can't control it as they thought
But that they had new efforts to try that they think will see sucsess
Thedevil, where did they say that?
