Michael Gove Car Crash Interview
50 Answers
Any one who believes the Government is on top of things in the Corona crisis needs to watch this morning's Andrew Marr Show and the Michael Gove car crash interview.
From the email from the EU that no one saw and "it went to spam" to the companies in UK who told the P M they had thousands of ventilators available but no one answered their emails.
Gove, "I'll get on to that right away".
Marr, "Too late they have already gone to other countries".
Please usual commentators do not come back with the usual "political " bilge.
This is about keeping us alive and they are doing a woeful job.

But we have an extremely inexperienced bunch of ministers at the moment; if the plague had struck five years later they might have been better organised. But they're what the electorate voted for.

Questions presumably have to asked about how it is that we went from "we're still in the contain phase" to "schools are shut and you can only leave your homes for the most essential reasons" in barely a week. The disease had been bouncing around the world for weeks, and in that regard it's no surprise that it came here, but still. Why wasn't widespread testing a priority?
Asking these questions isn't politically motivated, either.

I am not a leftie. You just have to look at how some countries have handled things better. Notably Germany.
Some questions driven by facts rather than politics:
* Where is the PPE gear for key workers?
* How are the Germans able to test so many more people than the Brits for Coronavirus?
* How did we miss buying so many ventilators and parts for them that our own manufacturers and suppliers sent them abroad?
I applaud the Government for the steps they've made to protect businesses, employees and the self-employed, but that doesn't absolve them of responsibility for their inability to give a straight answer questions like the above.
