I have been reading the media and social media chatter about lockdown and isolating etc.

There is the advice about non essential travel and the two meter distance advice.

There is the advice for leaving your home for essential work, visit hospital/doctors, carding for the vulnerable, supermarket and a daily exercise.

I get that and don’t have a problem with it for the most part but I do to the non essential travel ban. So what if people are taking time to go out for a walk in the countryside?

If everyone in my area was locked down and they all went out for a stroll in the area we would be knee deep in people. You would be hard pressed to not be in close proximity to other people. So why not go to a secluded country park or rambling walk along the by ways? You’ll see less than a fifth of the people you would walking round your street.

And not forgetting that for the most part we h7mans are social animals and lock us up for too long and we go dolally.

I think you’ve answered your own question. It’s just not possible to predict numbers of people turning up to any remote locations, especially when the normal beauty spots are off limits.

Ironically, steg, city centres are probably one of the safest places.

The safest, most remote places I walk the dogs are a short drive away, but really not practical to walk them to there. So, I agree (although not sure if it includes dog-walking?)

No one should be driving anywhere to walk their dog, or themselves for that matter.

It’s also about having a traffic accident and taking valuable resources away from the already overstretched nhs, fire, police, etc.

Trouble is what the government guidelines say and what the legislation actually says are a bit different. This is why we have confusion. If they are going to enforce with criminal sanction they need to make it quite clear.

We are fortunate in having countryside at the back of our garden and a garden gate that takes us straight out there and Hubby can walk for miles without seeing a single person. I can't because walking on rough ground is impossible for me. I cannot see a problem with people driving to their nearest country walk, if they have the ability to do so, but not going to beauty spots. Unfortunately, a lot of people tend to make for popular country areas. We have noticed in the summer that visitors crowd near the entrance to popular beaches and don't walk another couple of hundred yards to where the beaches are almost empty. As you say humans are social animals and prone to herding together.

The local places I go to usually, are definitely busier, but so vast, you can keep well away from any other person and see them a mile off.
