I've been thinking about this a lot over the last few weeks and now for someone to actually say it kind of brings it home.

it has to be proven and that may take some time
let us hope when one is found it's very effective....
It's interesting that he's described as "America's top Coronavirus expert,"

What studies does one have to complete to become an "expert" on this new and unprecedented situation?

One person's expert is another persons bluff artist.
No one knows how this situation is going to unfold.

I personally think life will return to some semblance of normality eventually but there will be widespread hostility towards China for years to come.
I think you're right LCG.
If part of the new normal is that everybody works from home unless it's impossible, I think that's a good thing. It's what we should have been doing ever since the technology became available, ie ages ago.
Never is a long time. Those with a natural immunity will pass it on to future generations. And even if it mutates in order to stick around, it'll just be another infection amongst many others that species have to cope with. Then when genetic science/engineering has matured these things may not be much of an issue any more. Meanwhile the percentage of us expected to get it and survive will hopefully give us this herd immunity they talk about.
I think one can have expertise in the field of virology, and if you have also taken an interest in studying this particular one from the start you can be considered an expert on it. Surely the way epidemics and pandemics progress must be known.

I think they called Dr Fauci an expert as he is an immunologist. I don't think there are any experts in this yet.

Medical staff all around the world are gaining on the spot experience every day and what techniques can help or not. All patients are guinea pigs (if it's ok to use that term) in this viral war.

I agree about the hostility towards China. They also seem to have come through this quite easily and with a fairly low rate of deaths.
I am with Jim, if there is a vaccine I will join the queue.

I think they will be a way to deal with it, but it could be some time.
Good... we SHOULD learn from this and change. Let's hope we do.
