this is very technical I am afraid Naomi - so you can have some fun saying it is unsafe but you wd still have it etc etc.
1950 - everyone got a Mantoux at age 15 here and had BCG if they were neg and the positive ones were left as they had already had the first infection. This could run as high as 50% - in country areas possibly through bovine TB
this continued until 2005 when BCG was stopped and Mantoux testing was used to detect recent infection ( positive if reently infected)
BCG in India only had 30% the protective effect that it did in the white english populaton
BCG had no detectable on TB rates in American Indians and was less protective of white americans than English or French
and so it was used in the US in outbreaks and contract tracing - find a case of TB and vaccinate the mantoux neg close relatives
and so - - - you are going to find that everyone over 60 in England has had BCG in their youth see above - and I am afraid they are still dying
Some research is just not transportable -
hydroxy chloroquine has made a reappearance this week
Works well in cell culture - and didnt have any effect in the far east when they tried it in a series ...
the juniors in London are saying that they are admitting patients to ICU and ventilating them and watching about half die anyway
In New York this is 80% - that die and some clinicians are saying the results are so bad, they should stop at CPAP ( one step short) - this cd be because they are admitted in the land of the Free when they are just about to croak as no one can pay the hospital fees
All the antibody systems have failed govt quality tests - all 150 failed on saying you are immune when you arent - so really at present we just have to lock our doors and wait and see....
