I'm not ignorant of the importance of self-evaluation, but I've noticed a common feature of those people who keep misreading me, and I'd suggest that's more at play here. People who regularly disagree with me are, I suggest, more likely to find cause to even when it's not there. Take, as an example, dannyk's bizarre decision to brand my suggestion that Thatcher might have been able to respond to this crisis more effectively than many PM's as "typical of [my] political allegiance", which makes exactly no sense.
No, what I was saying was clear here: this virus came from China, the next one may not, and it doesn't do to focus on what they were doing if we ignore our (and, again, by our I don't mean the UK, I mean humanity in general) own deficiencies in animal husbandry.
