It's not only Ryanair. I was supposed to be in Holland next month but Eurotunnel will not give me a full refund. They 'kindly' gave me a voucher no to be used within a year of initial booking for another journey. I was supposed to be going 5/5/2020 but booked in February. I don't want to be in the Netherlands in February. I would like to go in May 21.

It's a difficult one but it's not Branson needing the bailout, it's one of his companies of which he only owns 51% Personally, I would hate to see Virgin go to the wall because I would hate to see that many people lose their jobs. As for as O'Leary is concerned, he is an idiot who doesn't care about his staff or his customers. I have met people who worked for him and it wasn't good.

Not really Pixie. I was driving in convoy with a few other pals.February is too early next year to go to Holland.Because my other co-driver and I booked our car tickets in February for a May crossing we have to take an alternative within a year of initial booking and not the date of travel. :-(
I can't see why the NHS should be allowed to rip anyone off, tonyav. Virgin (it wasn't "Branson") had every right to take the matter to court - and I note that the defendants settled out of court.
Retro, you can demand your money back. You paid for something, they aren't supplying it. Don't take a credit note so they can hold onto your money even longer. I'm doing the same though not with Ryanair or Virgin.

I don't think he's after a bailout, tonyav, as I understand it, he wants a loan and he's put up Necker island as collateral, so he stands to lose that.

"Distancing" passengers in any meaningful way on an aircraft is near enough impossible. I'm not at all convinced that the distancing measures in place in shops etc. are at all useful, but that's another issue. Let's assume that similar principles will be needed on an aircraft. You would have to use about only one seat in six, no member of the crew could approach you, you could not get up to go to the toilet and embarking and disembarking would be a logistical nightmare. OK perhaps on a short hop from Gatwick to Manchester. Not so clever on a ten hour flight to the Caribbean. Anybody suggesting that the current recommended distancing principles can be maintained on a commercial flight is telling porkies.
