Why Arnt Police Issued With P P E ?

Why arnt the Police issued with PPE?
Since the lockdown Ive seen a LOT more police about around town and none have masks or gloves. This morning I saw 4 police officers with a man who was being searched and only the officer searching him had gloves on but all four were in very close proximity to the man (no 2 metre distance rule there).
There have been a few cases in my local rag about scumbags getting jail sentences for coughing/spitting at police so surely an organisation that has to deal with this sort of thing should be issued with PPE?
I also dont understand why the police are still patrolling in pairs (in cars) with no protective equipment. Not only are the being a health hazard to each other but also the general public and the crims that they have to be in close contact with in order to arrest. (and vice versa)

This was the guidance on 8th April but there has reportedly been an issue in getting sufficient PPE where it is needed.

//Is this just an opportunity to have yet another pop at the old bill?//
If it was, why would I be calling for them to have protective equipment?
//Police are front line workers dealing with some unsavioury people who would think nothing of infecting them if they could so Police NEED protective gear//
Is this just YOUR chance to have another pop at me Islay?

//Lol call me Islay if you wait nailit ! You will just look like a dick!//
You have said elswhere thats who you were previously, but no matter.
As regard the rest of ur post, police can certainly wear gloves and face coverings. And my post was about why they werent provided for an essential service.
Carry on and make yourself look like a dick by twisting my post if you wish.

//You could ask serious questions here, but don't expect serious answers!//
Not from you anyway.
A serious question about a serious issue (the safety of our police) and only you could turn it around to a debate about my own run in's with them....
I wouldnt wish death on anyone.
You are frankly quiet sick to suggest so.
