Justin Trudeau Gun Ban
I see Trudeau is banning gun ownership in Canada. Will the gun ban be like Britains ,where criminals, drug dealers and gang members are all exempt from the ban?

As interesting as those stats are Corby, it doesn't indicate that the availability of guns increases the murder rate*. It just shows that guns are the weapon of choice for American murderers. *which I'm sure it does.

"The point is, you have to have legislation in order to prosecute offenders as and when they are brought to court - including the criminal elements you mention - and that is why the law is bring enacted." The point is, this is not legislation; it was an Order in Council an almost dictatorial action taken by Trudeau himself. It did not get the three readings in The Commons and then get passed on to The Senate. There was no discussion with The Opposition Parties and no votes taken. Another point is that Canada already has existing legislation that deals with criminals who use a gun during a crime, and criminals who are caught carrying an unlicensed, usually, hand-gun. This "legislation" has nothing whatsoever to do with prosecuting and sentencing gun-toting criminals. The Order in Council merely harasses law-abiding, licensed Canadian Citizens who legally own legally purchased weapons. I have addressed a couple of points made by the resident ah, and it seems to me that if he did in fact see the posted links he certainly didn't understand them.
Another important point is that if and when the Federal Government decide to buy-back these legally owned and legally purchased arms by licensed gun-owners,it's going to cost the Canadian tax-payers close to a billion dollars. This money would be much better spent on more stringent measures taken to stem the flow of illegal weapons coming in from mainly the US, but also other countries.
