//Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) medics and healthcare workers say "systemic discrimination" on the frontline of the coronavirus outbreak may be a factor in the disproportionate number of their colleagues who have died after contracting the virus.//

https://www.itv.com/news/2020-05-13/discrimination-frontline-coronavirus-covid19-black-minority-ethnic-bame-deaths-nhs-racism/

Why then are deaths among ethnic minorities disproportionately higher outside the NHS too? I think another reason needs to be sought.

I hate it when one writes the correct word only to find something's changed it.
as an aside, how many non bame have died in total ? anyone know.
Two of the common mudballs thrown about are, white privilege, and sub conscious racism.

Mud sticks.
You keep throwing the word'Racism' into the mix - that isn't what this is about Theland.

There is a difference.
Mamya - the people throwing racism into the mix are the BAME SJW's who never miss an opportunity to link everything to racism.

I wouldn't say that, Mamyalynne. Accusations of racism are what prompted this thread.
Discrimination and racism differ to me but I shan't press the point and will leave it and not clutter the thread.
Armed criminal Mark Duggan shot dead by police, caused riots because of alleged racism.

Grenfell, authorities including fire brigade accused of racism.

The list goes on and on, the BAME deaths in the NHS being the latest weapon to bash us with.
Ethnicity is not recorded on the death certificate, maybe it should be
then we could get a real overall statistic.

They say they meet with discrimination because they are members of ethnic minorities. That’s racism.
Its something that needs addressing and not swept under the carpet, but not presented as a conclusion to the exception of all of the other complicated factors.
the problem is they play the race card so much that it's like the boy who cried wolf.

Are people who fall back on 'racist' better or worse than those who use the term 'social justice warrior', 'snowflake' or 'virtual signaller'?

Could it argued that these are all terms that can be used to shut down an argument?

Could be indeed - but it could very well be argued that an accusation of racism can be used for far more.
Also, the report talks of systematic discrimination in the NHS.

There are certain people here who absolutely believed accusations of antisemitism in the Labour Party, but who don't believe this report.

It may be down to hypocrisy.
sp - No, I totally disagree with you.

I supposed if you look for something.

Not a problem. I don't expect anyone to necessarily agree or disagree.
