It's a very interesting stretch of the coast, Bobbi. A short walk away is Lulworth Cove. This is an almost circular bay with just a narrow opening to the sea:

That neck of the woods is riddled with unusual geological features and well worth a visit. Just up the road is the deserted village of Tyneham:

Not the only village commandeered by the WD during the war. Villages adjacent to the sandy beaches in Devon were evacuated for D. Day Landing rehearsals. Residents including Farmers were told to evacuate their houses with little notice. Much of the property was damaged by live fire from Allied ships. The Devonians were unfortunate to have almost identical features to the French landing beaches including an inland lagoon.
