which will come with a 1 year warranty presumably, should i take out extra insurance with PC World for this time. What does a 1 year warranty mean in real terms for example if it goes wrong within the year do they simply replace it. Any help would be most welcome

Morning emmie xx that's what a one year warranty means, if it fails it will be repaired or replaced free of charge.

Correct emmie. ;o}

that's good. I finally got round to buying one, the same make and model as this one. It should be delivered today hopefully..
emmie I never take out extended warranties on electrical goods, IMO if they last a year, they should be good for a long time.

you are probably right, but i have been caught out when three appliances went on the fritz at the same time, so i had the insurances put in place, so i didn't have to spend out on new appliances.
I agree with that tony. I have three laptops, none have extra insurance, but all covered by the household insurance.
Question Author
i have contents insurance at home, but don't think it covers these items...
It should emmie, they are household items.
Question Author
true, perhaps i should check my insurance details first.
Worth checking emmie.

Question Author
i will have to phone the council and get them to give me the insurers details.
Good idea emmie. You may find the council insurance only covers the building.
Question Author
i have contents insurance with them.
Question Author
i think it's Allianz that is our insurers. I haven't made a claim for a very long time...
That should be covered then emmie.
The retailers make very little selling items, but a lot of money selling extended warranties. Don't do it.
Contents insurance won't cover a faulty appliance, whether it's a computer or a fridge etc. If you have accidental damage cover it will pay out if, for example, you drop the laptop down the stairs and wreck it. It would also pay out if it was destroyed by fire or flood. Nevertheless, we never take out extended warranties.
I never buy extended warranties, they are a complete waste of money.
