I guess you're right. Any newcomers can easily make their minds up as to who the idiots are Sanmac, and tell whether AB is for them by their choices.

It seems a shame when people take offence at something like this. I mean, had the team regarded ‘Redskins’ as derogatory they wouldn’t have chosen the name. Rather it conjures up images of bravery, strength, fortitude, and all that, so in that respect it’s a compliment. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - and all that. Just another way of looking at it.
Mozz, I realise that but I think it wiser to look at it from a different angle. To see what is now regarded as derogatory as a compliment instead goes much further towards winning the battle. When people make a fuss they attract detractors - and the idiots who purposefully make every effort to offend will do it all the more. For example, if someone calls a black man a ‘black ***’, the black man usually objects to the word ‘black’ - but why? He is black - so instead of jumping up and down about the use of the word ‘black’ far better to meet that with ‘Yes, I am black but I’m not a ***’. Where does that leave the racist? Floundering - because what he regarded as a racist comment fell flat on its face. Just my thoughts on the matter.
I see your point, and I guess that is why the N word has been reclaimed by black culture, in music especially, but I feel we are not in the position to tell other races what they should find offensive, and what they shouldn't. As I said, there has been campaigns by Native American tribes and societies against the Redskins brand for 40 years, this is nothing new. I think after such a long period of time, we should accept that, to them, the word is racist.
//I think 'Washington Braves' sound good as well.//
It does indeed Tigger......but it is patently untrue. Washington would have to be Washington "Speaks with forked Tongue" to be nearer or Washington "No Fire Water Allowed", Or maybe Washington "Scalpers" .........that'll make their hair stand on end. Meanwhile.....Onto Toronto, pronto, Tonto.
