Just read a report that opening the shops, cafes and pubs has failed to deliver the boost to the economy that's needed. Why do they print such tosh. Just out of interest did anyone on here expect it to? High numbers losing their jobs, some still on 80% and not knowing if their going to keep their jobs, but they expect the shops to be crammed full, and new car sales take off. Needless to mention they've only been open a few days.

Non-essential shops have been open for three weeks. Pubs, restaurants and barbers for three days. It will need time to get where it's going to get to. But the government's lockdown has caused irreparable damage to the economy. Many establishments will not reopen, especially those that were on the brink of going skint just before lockdown (and there were...

It’s going to take a while to get the economy back into shape.
Things have got worse down here in the SW since lockdown ceased. We had very few cases, but now in my home town there are more popping up. It’s a tourist town so I guess they came from Birmingham or Bristol.
No report then, teacake. Thought not.
Whoever compiled the report has certainly jumped the gun in trying to assess any boost to the economy.

Perhaps an amateur source?

Not for you no. Have a nice day.
tc you really are your own worst enemy - what's wrong with telling us about the report, or showing it?
UK shop footfall fell by almost 50% year-on-year in the third week since non-essential stores have reopened in England ...

(That from the fairly professional Essential Retail site)

so we are on day 4 since the pubs opened and TC has determined that the economy should have recovered totally by now! Right oh!
Our blessed leader (peas be upon her) has decreed that from Friday we must wear a face mask when we want to do something as simple as buy a newspaper.

We have rallied behind her and will comply with all and every edict to eradicate this plague and will soon be recognised as the heroes of Chernobyl were on dealing with their disaster.

You'll have had your tea?
The problem with Ms Sturgeon's guidance is that just about all she is interested in is maintaining virus infections below the numbers in England. Not very difficult anyway when vast swathes of Scotland contain only a crofter's cottage every few miles and quite a bit of it is completely uninhabitable. Even easier when you don't have to worry yourself about the economy as the Barnett Formula tends to deliver a few bob more per head in Scotland than it does south of the border.
Nicola Sturgeon's daily prattle is clear political posturing. I can't imagine how any sensible Scot doesn't find her embarrassing.
She thinks she's PM!
Delusions of grandeur, Margie.
She’s got a face you’re never tire of slapping :0)
Teacake.why don't you just ignore the leader of the Knit and Natter club. I do.
You are just feeding a troll every time you reply.
