The fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square has been unveiled today, it's a cherry on cream with a fly in it!!!!!
It's gross, I wonder if it'll be pulled down? Probably not
Bobbi, surely you must have seen the meaning in the work.
//THE END represents exuberance and unease. Topped with a giant, unstable load, the plinth becomes a monument to hubris and impending collapse. The surrounding architecture and its population are participants in a mis-scaled landscape, one that magnifies the banal, and our cohabitation with other lifeforms, to apocalyptic proportions.//
I think Bristol has a statue they could put there permanently. (Assuming the Bristol council are too weak to stand up to vandalism that is, and given the amount of graffiti left around the place, they are.)
If memory serves me right – many years ago on HIGNFY, Ken Livingstone (at the time he was mayor of London) announced that he had been given the nod that the fourth plinth was reserved for Her Maj once she pops her clogs.
One of the few things Ken said that makes perfect sense.
