On the 2nd JAN this year, Boris stood on the steps of Downing St, and announced with a double thumbs up sign........"This is going to be a fantastic year for Britain".......Little did he realise then, what was ahead.
Boris is not famous for his honesty, but that day he did not realise he was telling the biggest unintentional lie of his life.

mozz: "You want a lie Tora. How about the £350m we give the eu every week going to fund the NHS. " - you Mozz? seriously? you are literate, you know it's a statement and a suggestion. no lies there.
They didn't say that the 350 million would be spent on the NHS.
Mozz//Didn't he state that he resigned due to his disagreement with Boris' EU deal?//
I think he did, but that did not involve any lying by Boris.
TCL: "He made up the claim about Corbyn and MI5, why are you saying it wasn't a lie? " - no he didn't make anything up, he claimed with some validity an intention of the opposition.
Why does Gulliver worry? He says he doesn't live in this country anyway?
What about the Corbyn and his wanting to dismantle MI5 claim? Any proof yet?
gulliver: "Even Boris's Brother resigned as an MP, because of Boris and his lies about Brexit" - can you give us an example of one of Boris' "Lies" about brexit. - nope thought not!

Quite right . It was the lies that Boris was telling about Brexit , that instigated the brother resigning . Further lies will be become aware to the Public, in the first couple of months in 2021
TCL there is no proof, well none that anyone outside the labour party has access to. It was an opinion, politicking, like when Labour claim that the Tories want to hunt poor people, they have no proof either.
TTT, you appear to be having problems backing up Johnson's MI5 claim.

Why can you not concede there is no evidence?
Eventually! He was lying when he made that claim then, wasn't he?
no he was not, it was a prediction, an opinion.
politicians accuse each other of all sorts of intentions all the time that's not lying. Crikey TCL talk about nailing jelly to a wall, you are worse than ZM!
Gulliver //Quite right . It was the lies that Boris was telling about Brexit , that instigated the brother resigning//
It was nothing to do with lies. His brother did not like the deal that Boris made. The only lies being perpetrated on this thread are coming from you.
//you are literate, you know it's a statement and a suggestion.//

A statement that Mr Johnson, alongside others such as your hero Mr Farage, endorsed fully despite knowing full well it was a complete falsehood.

Sure, it's a statement, but Boris' lie was in pushing that statement, rather than making it in the first place.
This entire thread is so frustrating. Accusing a politician of lying becomes the issue, rather than the fact that politicians so often play fast and loose with the truth. Be it lying, as in a deliberate falsification, or not, it shouldn't be acceptable. We should demand a standard of politics where being wrong is OK, but being dishonest is not.

I think Johnson can be forgiven for being hopelessly optimistic at the beginning of the year: playing on optimism is how he became PM after all, and although technically Covid-19 was already a thing at the beginning of this year, the full scale wasn't yet apparent.
mozz: "A statement that Mr Johnson, alongside others such as your hero Mr Farage, endorsed fully despite knowing full well it was a complete falsehood." - what was false? we paid £350m pw to the EUSSR, end of. Show me where it says any different.
I can't believe you remoaners are still banging on about the bus, you lost, accept it.
He said that “Jeremy Corbyn wants to scrap MI5” and that the Labour leader has “said he would disband MI5”.

He claimed Corbyn had said he would disband MI5. He didn't say he had a feeling or the impression, he claimed Corbyn himself had SAID he would disband MI5.

The intention was for folk to believe that Corbyn had declared he would dismantle a major part of our security service and Johnson knew that was a lie.
jim, part and parcel of politicking is assigning intentions to the opposition. That's not lying.
