Glad about the sentence he received - but things like this show up the stupidity of some laws. I, too, was more than surprised that he wasn't dragged into court to hear the sentence. Apparently he also refused to listen to the families' statements as to how they have been affected. Why don't they play them into his cell on a never-ending loop? I'm sure it's possible and at some point he would have to hear them.

// Pershing not only had absolute faith in America’s military prowess, he had little regard for British and French commanders who’d spent years sending their soldiers “over the top” in useless slugging matches with well-armed Germans.//
the article is worf a read ( to use AB English)
I am not sure which point is being argues
Pershing refused to unite with the British and French and the Chancellor reported to the Reichstag ( er yes that chancellor ) - "Germany cd never lose the war whilst the allies were so disunited"
The article does NOT recite that Pershing and his armies had then to learn all the lessons the ALlies had learnt painfully - chop chop ! - [including unified action and going over the top] - the first contact - was it St Mihiel was a widely predicted disaster
"Pershing had absolute faith in America’s military prowess, " and they too were wasted
there is nothing god like in american commanders
look that they did in Vietnam !
