...so we can't even get glorified cruise control working, let alone full autonomy. No death, this time but how many will die before we accept this is pie in the sky?

//Tesla says its autopilot system is designed to "assist you with the most burdensome parts of driving".// Crashing has always been the most burdensome part of driving to me, so it sounds like the system is working well.

What were they doing watching a film while the tech is still being developed ?
One can post as many examples of irresponsibility as one likes. It doesn't mean tech won't advance. It's almost like those who denied flight was possible, citing incidents of those who failed prior to the Wright brothers and Kitty Hawk.

Tesla don't claim it's autonomous. 'It adds on its website that the software "enables your car to steer, accelerate and brake automatically within its lane".
But it warns that it "requires active driver supervision" and does not make the car autonomous.'
Perhaps if the drivers drove in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, there would be fewer such incidents.

spice, this is not an autonomous car, it has a feature that is essentially cruise control with knobs on, It is supposed to accelerate and brake and stay in lanes of traffic. As TCL points out, there is a problem with owners of these cars believing that they are autonomous. I am, on this post, pointing out that the "autopilot" function clearly is proving too difficult so what chance for actual automated vehicles?
