Because there are pressure groups that want to appear hard done by because of history but who in reality have freedom to do what they wish, and opt to be a bigger pain than most. Compare with those in real distress that have no way to protest and most of the public don't realise they are in trouble.

What is the point in ranting about stuff that happened many hundreds of years ago and actually sanitising it to make it a white on black "crime" - when in fairness all races were complicit in the slavery of fellow humans who were less fortunate. The truth of the matter is that slavery is absolutely bloody rife today (again perpetrated by all races upon races). I get really annoyed at those who spend time ranting about history where right under our noses it is happening TODAY. Is it because the unpalatable truth is it IS happening but its an easier target to rip down statues rather than address the real issue?
There is an issue close to me that I have reported (now twice) where I believe there is a human slavery element but nothing is done. I presume because resources are being put into policing "events" and "protests" rather than real human issues.

In fact there are slaves in this country. Immigrants brought in illegally by traffickers are either sold into the sex trade, where they are kept prisoner in appalling conditions or sold to gang masters and treated abysmally. Maybe the fact many are here illegally makes them less worthy of concern to some, but at least their plight is real.
