We have no relatives nearby, you can't get a delivery for love nor money at the moment for a couple of weeks so what are the options? Seems like one of us would have to risk it and nip to the supermarket and hope for the best or starve.

Its nonsencical to think that a couple of week's without buying fresh fruit & veg will effect the health in the long run of somone who usual eats healthy. Whats more likely to affect peopels health is if the break the isolation and either get infected or infect others.
Some peopel are using silly arguements on here IMO, stretching every point and making somthing out of nothing, looking for problem's that arnt realy there. Am not sure what there trying to do but a dont actualy beleive they realy believe what there saying, there on a wind up
I must admit to always keeping a well stocked larder and freezer, so it is unlikely we would ever go hungry. And I now love having freedom from food shopping. Wish I had done it earlier. I have never participated in panic buying.
Prudie "I know we probably planned poorly but it is not as easy as some are making out to feed yourself for 14 days without a shop."

but you admit you planned poorly. It can be really easy. Stuff like cat food and sugar need no special storage, neither does stuff like part baked bread rolls, rice, pasta and so on...and toothpaste? who doesn't keep a spare tube of toothpaste?
We probably planned about 48 hours short - plus because I wasn't going into work the cats were getting fed more than usual so I'd underestimated that bit.. Yes rice/pasta etc you can store plenty but you have to have something with it.
As for toothpaste I for one don't usually keep a spare. When it's running low I'll buy another one.
I dont stockpile as such, but over the last 6 months have been purchasing extra supplies as Ive always said that there would be a second lockdown.
Got enough toiletries to last a month and enough food to last a fortnight...
So I can wipe my behind and clean my teeth more than i can eat a bacon sandwich or beans on toast!
My pantry, fridge and freezer are always well stocked. Same with toiletries and cleaning products.

The only thing I don't stock up on is alcohol.
you are at home more so the cats get more food????? what?
I have enough food to last me two weeks and enough gin and tobacco to last me two months! It's all a question of priorities.
lol jackdaw, I don't smoke but I am well stocked with booze
One should never let ones cellar drop below a years supply !
Yes woof, I can only think with all your dogs you don't have cats. There's nothing shocking or unusual for most people about giving in to cats when they're around you all day.
Bloody cats, so bloody annoying :-)

My cat is a cutie but he doesn't stop moaning.
//what severe problems would it cause you? You have self destroyed your "I need to go shopping multiple times a week in order to get a decent diet"//

Have I? I said I could manage to get by. Not the same thing at all.
However, it's more than diet. I go out every day. I like going out. If I definitely had the disease I would consider remaining inside (indeed I may have to if my symptoms were severe enough). But if I just happened to be in the same vicinity as somebody who had tested positive I most certainly would not.

I'm simply not in the business of making ridiculous adjustments to my life to partake in futile attempts to help prevent the spread of this disease. It will spread. Lock down and the spread may slow; unlock and the spread will resume. The rates will vary but spread will continue. And it will continue for some time yet. My sitting indoors for a fortnight living on beans won't change that one jot and I shall exploit every nook and cranny of the mainly ludicrous legislation that is spewing out of this government in order to maintain as normal a life as possible. So that's my cards well and truly on the table. Now I'm going to have a look at Tora's thread - "Covidiocy - Why Are We Trashing The Economy Of The World....."
We're in the same boat. Couldn't isolate for more than a few days.
//NJ have you no freezer?//

Yes. And it's full.

NJ "Have I? I said I could manage to get by. Not the same thing at all."

NJ "It's possible if you are prepared. I am prepared and I would be perfectly able to get by but I'm simply not prepared to do it (reasons below). "

so you go from "I need to go shopping several times a week to get a decent diet" To "I enjoy the walk"

ooooooooookay......
Someone telly me where the ruddy goalposts are,I've bumped into them three times already.
telly? - * tell
Some people really do like the sound of their own voice...well, the written equivalent.
I cannot believe that folk only have a few days supply of food in times like this. It sounds almost like a form of martyrdom.

We planned to shop in the far away big town this weekend. We now have a storm warning which makes the shorter route unreliable. A message tells us that the long way over the mountains will be closed for roadworks. So, a trip to the local butcher tomorrow is all we need to keep us well fed until things settle down in a few days time...or a week or more if needs be. It's not difficult to be prepared for sudden changes.
gness I know....fail to plan, plan to fail

mamya yes goalposts on wheels
